Think about travel to Italy and what words come to mind? The list is endless, but no doubt it includes opera, pasta, and cheese. And while many parts of of Italy have all of these to one extent or another, perhaps no region combines these elements more than Emilia-Romagna, a region known as the “bread basket of Italy. The region is located smack between Firenze (Florence) to the south and Milano (Milan) to the Northwest.

The Autoroutes 1 and 14 run parallel to the Apennine mountains, which form much of ther southern border of Emilia-Romagna, traversing the region from its Adriatic Coast in the east almost to the Mediterranean on the province’s western border. Most of the region's main cities -- Cessena. Imola,. Bologna, Modena, Reggio Nell’Emilia, Parma, and Piacenza -- are lined up parallel to the Appenines and strung along the Autoroute (once a Roman road).
