Suffolk has farmed pigs and apples for centuries and Suffolk ham is on a par with Yorkshire ham. However, there are other experiences for the culinary traveller to try. Sprats are smoked at Aldeburgh on the coast, the Greene King Brewery in Bury St Edmunds offers fascinating brewery tours and Suffolk's only working water mill at Pakenham provides milling and bread making demonstrations as well as hosting local food fairs.

Take a Tour of the Greene King Brewery at Bury St Edmunds

Greene King, brewers of traditional UK ales such as Old Speckled Hen, Ruddles County and Abbot Ale have made their beer at Bury St Edmunds on a site at Westgate Street that has been brewing ale for over 300 years. They offer tours of the brew house every day of the week with discounts for parties over 10 and there are limitations on children taking the tour.
