Girls Inc. believes that all girls are "inherently smart, strong, and bold," and this organization strives to provide girls with the tools they need to recognize and build these strengths in themselves. Especially in a culture and time where girls are often marginalized, sexualized, or just plain ignored, Girls, Inc. is a place where girls can be everything they dream they can be.

Dear World Campaign

Girls Inc. is a non-profit organization that has been around since 1864. Recently, they launched a public education campaign, "Dear World," which aspired to share with the world the real thoughts, fears, and dreams of real girls. Nearly three hundred girls from Girls Inc. organizations across the country participated in this campaign by writing letters and reading them on tape. The girls' messages were developed into PSAs, available for viewing on the Girls, Inc. website.

Girls can still call 888-DEAR-WRLD to leave their own messages responding to the question, "What does the whole world need to know about what its like growing up as a girl today?" Older girls and women can also leave messages describing experiences about their own girlhood that they wish to share with today's girls.
